In Shasta County and the surrounding Northstate, there are a significant amount of flowering trees and plants to create a high pollination period that can start in March and go all the way through the winter.
The ENT Center of Excellence has an Allergy Clinic to help you get through the allergy season. Do you suffer from:
Itchy or Watery Eyes
Scratchy Throat
Nasal Congestion
Headaches
Runny Nose
Sneezing
Fatigue
Hay Fever
Pollen can come from the thousands of Oak Trees which grow in the Northstate, as well as from grasses, flowers, ragweed, mold and dust mites. Tree pollen and ragweed pollens are the most common causes of seasonal allergies, which can last for several months. Ragweed and Pollen allergies can be a trigger for asthma, which makes breathing extremely difficult.
It’s best to avoid being outside during allergy season, but not everyone can do that. Even if you can avoid going outside, pollen can land on you, get on your clothes or in your hair and get tracked into your home. Breezy days can blow the pollen all over your car, inside and out. You’ll notice the greenish hue of pollen on everything.
Taking precautions against pollens coming into your home is a good idea. Frequently washing off your face, and changing clothes is helpful. Some even take their shoes off when entering their homes.
Pollen counts vary with the weather and the time of day, and are often published so you know what to expect.
Try something new this year, and instead of hiding out from the outdoors from May until July, contact ENT Center of Excellence in Redding. Their Allergy Clinic may be just the answer to give your body the help it needs!
