Thyroid Problems & Treatment

Our board-certified surgeons at ENT Center of Excellence provide exceptional surgical care for conditions of the thyroid gland and parathyroid gland. We can check for thyroid nodules by using in-office treatment methods and ultrasound.

We make it our goal whenever possible, to use the least invasive techniques to give you the best outcome, to reduce pain and give you a quicker recovery.

Dr. Bergstrom and Dr. Buxa are highly trained in the surgical procedures of the thyroid including:

• Biopsies of the Thyroid

• Removal of one lobe of the thyroid (Thyroid lobectomy)

• Removal of the parathyroid (Parathyroidectomy

• Complete removal of the thyroid (Total thyroidectomy)

Thyroid surgery is not always needed and often hormone replacement therapy can normalize thyroid production in an underactive or overactive thyroid. When there is an enlarged thyroid gland (goiter) or a tumor within the gland, surgery is often the best choice. If a patient has thyroid cancer, or there is a deformity of the neck, surgery may be required.
